About Us

About Mindful Therapies

Mindful Therapies exists to make practical wellbeing support more accessible across the North East.

We help people, groups, workplaces and communities build the skills to manage stress, improve emotional wellbeing and feel more connected. Some people come to us for counselling. Some join a mindfulness class. Others work with us through their workplace, community group or local project.

However people find us, the purpose is the same: practical support that helps people feel better, cope better and live with more balance.

Our work has three connected parts

Mindful Impact

Practical wellbeing for people, teams and organisations.

Mindful Impact supports workplaces and organisations with mindfulness-based training, wellbeing sessions and practical tools that help people manage pressure, improve focus and perform at their best.

Here and Now Counselling Service

Affordable counselling and emotional support when it is needed most.

Here and Now Counselling helps people navigate life’s challenges with practical, accessible support in the here and now. The service is designed to make counselling more affordable for people who may otherwise struggle to access help.

Mindful Therapies CIO

Community wellbeing rooted in connection.

Mindful Therapies CIO is our registered charity. It exists to support mental and physical wellbeing by bringing people together through mindfulness, meditation, classes, workshops, coaching and community-based support.

How Mindful Therapies is structured

Mindful Therapies is made up of two legally separate organisations that work closely together.

Mindfulness Based Therapies CIC is a non-profit community interest company founded in 2013. It manages the Mindful Therapies Centre in Newcastle, runs the Here and Now Counselling Service, provides workplace mindfulness through Mindful Impact, and delivers funded wellbeing projects.

Mindful Therapies CIO is a registered charity created to preserve and protect the good mental and physical health of the general public in the North East of England through mindfulness and meditation-based activities.

The CIO runs community classes, drop-in sessions and wellbeing activities, with plans to take mindfulness support into more places across the region.

Why we do this

We believe wellbeing support should not only be available to people who can easily afford it, find it, or already know where to look.

Mindfulness, counselling and emotional support can help people build confidence, manage difficult times and reconnect with themselves and others. Our role is to make that support practical, welcoming and accessible.

Governance and registration

Mindful Therapies CIO is governed by an independent Board of Trustees and regulated by the Charity Commission.

Mindfulness Based Therapies CIC is governed by a Board of Directors.
